Programs

Telephone Reader
In 2008 we began a new service for our clients. The Telephone Reader gives access recordings of local and national newspaper articles, newsletters, grocery store circulars and many more recorded materials over the telephone. Response to this program has been extremely enthusiastic. This service is filling a gap in the lives of our listeners. Recordings are available on our website as well in the form of pod casts.

Texas Talking Book Program
We record over 50% of the books distributed by the Texas State Library, in addition to producing all 12 issues of Texas Monthly Magazine per year. Our recordings are accessed by the twenty-thousand adults and children who are clients of the Texas Talking Book Program. While we provide the TBP with recorded books and magazines we do not receive any financial support from them for those recordings.

Requested Material
We record materials based on local requests by individuals and by groups in the West Texas Area. Midland College students, Manor Park residents, clients of the Aphasia Center and VAN (a support group for the visually impaired), are groups for whom we provide recordings. These requests include novels, textbooks, instruction manuals, newspaper articles, health brochures, monthly newsletters and voting guides. We also record many fiction and non-fiction books that our individual listeners request. These recordings become the property of the client, enabling them to maintain a personal library.

Church Outreach
Weekly Sunday School and Bible study lessons of various denominations are recorded and provided to local listeners. In 2008 we recorded over 200 lessons and bible study guides.
